1. Acceptance of Terms
By downloading, installing, accessing, or using the DreamCompass mobile application or website (the "Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use and any policies referenced in them, including our Privacy Policy.
If you do not agree to these Terms, you must not use the Service. Your continued use of the Service means you accept any updated Terms.
2. Eligibility and Age Requirements
2.1 Age of Majority
You must be at least the age of majority in your place of residence to use the Service. For most jurisdictions, this is 18 years old. If you are under the age of majority, you may use the Service only with valid parental or guardian consent.
2.2 Account Responsibilities
You are responsible for:
- Maintaining the confidentiality of your device and any login credentials
- All activities that occur under your account
- Providing accurate information during sign-up and keeping it current
- All consequences of account use or misuse
3. Nature of the Service
3.1 What DreamCompass Is
DreamCompass is a personal reflection and journaling tool that allows you to record, organize, and reflect on dreams and related information. It runs primarily offline on your device using local storage.
3.2 What DreamCompass Is NOT
The Service is not a medical, psychological, psychiatric, therapeutic, or crisis-intervention tool. It should not be relied upon for:
- Medical diagnosis or treatment
- Mental health diagnosis or psychological therapy
- Professional advice of any kind
- Crisis intervention or emergency support

4. License to Use the Service
4.1 Limited License
Subject to your compliance with these Terms, we grant you a limited, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to install and use the Service on a compatible device that you own or control, solely for your personal, non-commercial use.
4.2 Restrictions
You may not:
- Transfer, sell, or rent your license to others
- Sublicense, lease, or lend the Service
- Reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble, or attempt to derive source code
- Create derivative works or modifications
- Use the Service for any commercial purpose
All rights not expressly granted are reserved by us and our licensors.

5. Purchases, Trials, and License Period
5.1 Subscription and License Models
DreamCompass may be offered as:
- A free version with limited functionality, or
- A paid license that unlocks full features for a defined period (e.g., 6 months)
After the license period expires, the app may revert to a limited or read-only mode unless renewed or repurchased.
5.2 App Store Purchases
Purchases made through Apple's App Store or Google Play Store are processed by those stores as merchants of record. Your purchase is subject to:
- Their terms and conditions
- Their refund and cancellation policies
- Their billing practices
We do not control their processes. You must contact them directly for refunds or billing issues related to App Store or Play Store purchases.
5.3 Payment Authorization
By making a purchase, you authorize us to charge your payment method for the amount indicated. You are responsible for providing accurate payment information.
6. User Content and Local Storage
6.1 Your Content
Content you create and enter into DreamCompass ("User Content") includes:
- Dream text, entries, and reflections
- Tags, metadata, and notes
- Images, videos, or audio you add
- Any other information you input
6.2 Local Storage
User Content is stored locally on your device in a private, encrypted database. It is not routinely transmitted to our servers and remains under your control.
6.3 Your Responsibility for Backup
You are solely responsible for:
- Backing up your User Content
- Any consequences of device loss, damage, or data corruption
- Loss of access if your device is reset or damaged
- Creating copies if you want offline backup
We do not maintain server backups of your User Content and cannot recover lost data.
6.4 Export and Data Portability
You may export your User Content in a standard format through the app's export feature (if available). This allows you to move your data to another device or service.
7. Acceptable Use
7.1 Prohibited Conduct
You agree not to:
Illegal or Harmful Uses:
- Use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of applicable law
- Use the Service to transmit threats, harass, abuse, defame, or harm anyone
- Solicit money, gifts, or compensation from others
- Engage in fraud, financial crimes, or money laundering
Technical Violations:
- Attempt to reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the app or its code
- Circumvent security measures, license checks, or technical protections
- Upload viruses, malware, or harmful code
- Probe, scan, or test system vulnerabilities
- Use automated tools, bots, or scripts to access the Service
Intellectual Property Violations:
- Copy, modify, or distribute the Service, its code, or models without authorization
- Create derivative works from the Service
- Use the Service to train competing machine learning models without permission
8. Third-Party Services
8.1 Services We Use
DreamCompass relies on limited third-party services for:
- Authentication and Licensing: Email verification and license activation
- Mobile App Stores: Apple App Store and Google Play Store for distribution and in-app purchases
- Push Notifications: OS-level notification services (Apple, Google)
- On-Device Language Models: Local language models for dream analysis and reflection
8.2 Third-Party Independence
These third parties are independent of DreamCompass and have their own terms, privacy policies, and practices. Your use of those services is governed by their agreements, not solely by ours.
8.3 No Endorsement
We do not endorse these third parties and are not responsible for their practices, security, or content.
9. Intellectual Property
9.1 Our Ownership
All software, models, designs, trademarks, logos, and other content in the Service (excluding User Content) are owned or licensed by Connectech Ventures Corp. and protected by intellectual property law.
9.2 Your Rights to User Content
You retain ownership of User Content you create. By uploading User Content to the Service, you grant us a license to:
- Store, display, and maintain your content on your device
- Use your content to improve the Service and train models (using only on-device processing)
- Analyze patterns in your content to enhance features (on-device only)
9.3 No Public Sharing of User Content
We do not share your User Content with other users, third parties, or the public. Your dream entries remain private to you unless you explicitly export and share them.
10. No Medical or Psychological Advice
10.1 Explicit Disclaimer
DreamCompass is a journaling tool, not a medical or mental health service. The Service does not:
- Provide medical, psychiatric, or psychological diagnosis
- Offer treatment or therapy
- Replace consultation with qualified health professionals
- Provide crisis intervention or emergency support
- Constitute medical or professional advice
10.2 Reliance on Professional Advice
If you have questions about your mental health, dreams, or emotional well-being, please consult:
- A licensed therapist or psychologist
- A psychiatrist or physician
- A qualified mental health professional
Do not delay, avoid, or disregard professional medical or mental health care because of content in DreamCompass.
10.3 No Liability for Health-Related Decisions
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any decisions, actions, or consequences related to your health or mental health that result from using DreamCompass or any content generated by the Service.
11. Model-Generated Content and Limitations
11.1 What Model-Generated Content Is
DreamCompass may use on-device algorithms and language models to help you organize and reflect on your dreams. This may include:
- Suggested tags or themes
- Summary narratives or patterns
- Emotional tone analysis
- Other model-generated insights or suggestions
11.2 Limitations of On-Device Models
Model-generated content:
- Can be inaccurate, incomplete, or inappropriate
- May misunderstand or misinterpret your entries
- May generate misleading or unhelpful suggestions
- Is not guaranteed to be accurate, useful, or reliable
- Should not be treated as factual, as professional advice, or as a substitute for your own judgment
11.3 Your Responsibility
You are solely responsible for:
- Interpreting and evaluating model-generated content
- Making your own decisions about how to act on suggestions
- Verifying accuracy of model-generated insights
- Seeking professional guidance for important decisions
11.4 No Liability for Model-Generated Content
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for:
- Any inaccuracy or incompleteness of model-generated content
- Any decisions, actions, or omissions you make based on model-generated content
- Any harm, loss, damage, or consequences resulting from reliance on model-generated content
- Any misinterpretation or misunderstanding caused by the on-device models
Even if we have been notified of the possibility of such harm or if such harm is foreseeable, we are not liable.

12. Disclaimers
12.1 "As Is" and "As Available"
The Service is provided "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including:
- Fitness for a particular purpose
- Merchantability
- Non-infringement
- Accuracy, completeness, or reliability
- Uninterrupted or error-free operation
- Freedom from security breaches or data loss
12.2 No Guarantee of Features
We do not guarantee that:
- The Service will be uninterrupted or error-free
- Defects will be corrected
- The Service will meet your expectations
- Any specific features will remain available
13. Limitation of Liability
13.1 Excluded Damages
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, in no event shall Connectech Ventures Corp., its officers, directors, employees, or licensors be liable for:
- Any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages
- Loss of profits, revenue, data, or use
- Loss of goodwill or business opportunity
Any damages arising from:
- User conduct or content
- Errors, omissions, or interruptions
- Unauthorized access or data breaches
- Loss or corruption of data
- Any use or inability to use the Service
This applies even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages, such damages are foreseeable, or we are the sole remedy available.
13.2 Liability Cap
Our total aggregate liability for any and all claims arising out of or related to the Service or these Terms shall be limited to the greater of the amounts you paid for the Service in the 12 months prior to the event giving rise to the claim, or a modest fixed amount as specified under applicable law.
14. Indemnity
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Connectech Ventures Corp. and its officers, directors, and employees from any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or related to:
- Your use of the Service
- Your violation of these Terms
- Your violation of any applicable law
- Your violation of third-party rights
- User Content you create or upload
15. Termination
15.1 Your Right to Stop Using the Service
You may stop using the Service at any time by uninstalling the app. Your account and User Content will remain on your device until you delete them manually.
15.2 Our Right to Terminate
We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service if we reasonably believe:
- You have violated these Terms or applicable law
- You pose a risk to other users or the Service
- You have misused the Service
- Continuation is inappropriate for legal or business reasons
15.3 No Refund Upon Termination
If your account is terminated by us, you will not receive a refund of any amounts paid for the Service, licenses, or Virtual Items, except as required by mandatory consumer law.
15.4 Survival
Sections regarding Limitation of Liability, Indemnity, Intellectual Property, and Governing Law survive termination.
16. Changes to the Service and Terms
16.1 Service Changes
We may update, modify, or discontinue features of the Service at any time without prior notice. Significant changes will be communicated through the app or email.
16.2 Term Changes
We may update these Terms at any time. Changes will be posted here with a new "Effective Date." Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.
For material changes to the Limitation of Liability or Dispute Resolution sections, we may require your affirmative acceptance before the new terms take effect.
17. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution
17.1 Governing Law
These Terms and any dispute or claim arising out of or related to them shall be governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.
17.2 Exclusive Venue
You agree to submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Ontario, Canada for any legal proceedings, except where mandatory consumer protection laws in your country provide you with rights to bring claims in other forums.
17.3 Informal Resolution
Before initiating any formal legal action, we encourage you to contact us to attempt informal resolution. Please describe your dispute in detail and contact us at the address below.
